The two fighters keep it relatively friendly days before the big fight (possibly revealing their first moves?). Will Dee Light keep her coveting champion's position? Or will Phil Stonethroat rock her world and cut up her dreams?

"hi, hey, hello"

Woke up on the train tracks
feeling like james bond
the sun staring at me
the sound of trees heavy in the sky
smooth sailing then all of a sudden
clouds recline
sadly, it's beautiful
everywhere outside melts
the sky folds,
the blanket of death, it could put me to sleep,
which wouldn't be so bad
if it wasn't for a dream i had last night
of black banana peels eating a baby sandwhich

An encoutner by james Joyce is about a young boy who is bored with his life. Just like when he was a child, he uses Wild West Stories as an escape from life. At school he's forced to follow strict Catholic rules, and these stories took him to a life of fantasy and adventure. Hoping to find his owna dventure, he plans a trip with his friend. However, they never reach their destination, but instead a field, where they encounter a strange man. The man talks to the boys mostly about girls. The boy uses the word monotonous, a couple of times, to describe the old man's speach. The old man's monotony is comparible to the boy's life at home. Andthe lack of adventure solidifies that monotony further. It wasn't a very hopeful story. It suggested to me that no matter where you go there's no escape. On the other hand it wasn't a boring read. As I was reading, I felt how the boy did when the old man was lecturing him. I could imagine myself sitting there wondering what the heck this guy was talking about, and wishing he would go away.

This collection of works from Billy the Kid was pretty interesting. I suppose then that the Chisums were one of the houses where Billy stayed while he was on the run, or going somewhere to another. Poor Sallie Chisum! Seems her life doesn't consist of too much besides her animals and chores. The image of her in a white flowing dress in the dark house, as mentioned in the sidenotes and alluded to in the passage, is definitely reminiscent of a ghost. He even says, "like a ghost". Alone in that house, she may as well be a ghost. Like Sally, her animals were broken and couped up in the house. She kept the animals for a sense of comfort, a reminder that she wasn't alone. I think they also gave her a sense of purpose. She could help and protect the birds, even if she couldn't help herself. Sallie and John rarely talk, Sallie must go much of her day without talking. The story was sad, and I felt empathy for Sallie, and wished I could be telling her that morning's breakfast was delicious, and offer to help her with the dishes. She keeps the shutters closed all day, and locks herself up in her house. I almost feel like she likes being depressed, which is easy to do when you slip into darkness; you let it become your life.
